We're currently hiring experienced
Heavy Equipment Operators
to join our team for a
project based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
As the
Heavy Equipment Operators
you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in civil construction projects, including excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling. Operators should be confident working around live utilities and able to perform light maintenance and equipment checks.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, rock trucks, graders, skid steers, and more for various civil construction tasks.
Conduct excavation and grading work per site plans and engineered drawings.
Perform daily equipment inspections and minor maintenance.
Utilize GPS, laser, and grade control systems where applicable.
Ensure locates are verified; work safely around live utilities.
Collaborate with site crew and supervisors to maintain efficient and safe site operations.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other training as required.
Complete daily logs, inspection reports, and related documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and proper shutdown of equipment at shift end.
Willingness to assist with general labour tasks if required.
Key qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years civil construction experience.
Willingness to work outside of the machine when necessary.
Possess a valid driver's license, clean drivers abstract, and reliable transportation to and from work.
Be punctual, reliable, and hardworking.
Ability to work safely around buried utilities.
Willingness to work extended hours (as needed).
Familiarity with GPS and laser grade systems.
Experience operating excavators/dozers/loaders.

Compensation & Schedule
Wage: $38.00-$43.00 per hour (based on experience)
Shifts: Approx. 21 days on / 7 days off, scheduled to include long weekends where possible
Minimum 8 hours pay per workday, even in case of site delays or shutdowns
Work commences immediately

$100/day meal allowance
$10/hour completion bonus, paid out at end of project term (conditions apply)
