Full-time, permanent role -- no seasonal layoffs, premium snow pay, and hands-on outdoor work all year.

About the Role

Haliscape Construction is seeking a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our year-round team. As we transition into winter, this position includes on-call snow removal responsibilities, making it ideal for operators who want steady employment and higher pay during snow events while maintaining full-time hours throughout the year.

You'll operate excavators, loaders, and skid steers for residential landscaping and site preparation projects, as well as commercial snow removal operations throughout West Bedford, Dartmouth, and other HRM areas.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate excavators, loaders, and skid steers for grading, trenching, loading, and site preparation. Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and ensure safe operation. Respond to snow events -- operate heavy equipment, clear snow, and apply salt or sand as needed. Assist with ground-level snow removal (shoveling, salting, and clearing smaller areas). Support the crew with general labour tasks such as raking, shoveling, and site cleanup. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site at all times.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of professional experience operating excavators, loaders, or skid steers. Snow removal experience (plowing, loading, or equipment operation during winter) is an asset. Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation -- job sites are not accessible by public transit. Mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and physically fit (able to lift up to 55 lbs). Dependable, punctual, and able to work well in a team. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
