Job Description

TJL Construction is a an infrastructure construction company focusing on sidewalk, road, sewer/watermain construction in Ottawa. We work mainly within the city with some work in smaller municipalities surrounding Ottawa. The position starts May 1st with the possibility of three weeks of work on the excavator in this coming January.

We are seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, specifically excavators, backhoes, bobcats and possess a strong mechanical aptitude. Experience operating shovels and backhoes is required and operating other equipment as required. Must be able to commute to sites or to the shop.

Duties

- Candidate must be comfortable removing existing sidewalk and asphalt and pull grade

- Excavate clean and safe trenches for mainline sewer, catch basins, manholes, and other underground structures

- Reading locates and digging around utilities

- Utilize backhoe for material handling when necessary

- Execute operations following safety protocols

- Operate backhoe and bobcat as necessary

Qualifications
- Prior experience in excavator operation and heavy equipment handling
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Commercial driver's license preferred, minimum G class license required
- Familiarity with loader operation is advantageous
