About the Role

Haliscape Construction is hiring an experienced

Equipment Operator

to support residential construction and landscape development projects across HRM. This is a

full-time, year-round

position operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, and related equipment for excavation, grading, material handling, and site preparation.

While your primary role will be operating heavy machinery, you'll also be expected to assist with

general labour and physical tasks

as required -- including site prep, cleanup, and material handling. We're looking for someone who's confident behind the controls, dependable, and ready to pitch in wherever needed to keep the job moving.

Key Duties

Operate excavators and loaders for trenching, backfilling, final grading, and excavation work Read and follow grade stakes, layout markings, and site plans Load, move, and place materials with precision and efficiency Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance on equipment Work with the crew and site supervisor to meet project goals Participate in

manual labour tasks

as needed, such as shoveling, raking, lifting, and general cleanup Assist with

snow clearing

and winter operations as required

What You Bring

2+ years of experience operating excavators and/or loaders in construction or landscaping Knowledge of safe operation and job site safety practices Mechanical aptitude for light repairs and preventative checks Ability to transition between equipment operation and physical labour tasks Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation (job sites are not on transit routes) Physically capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions Strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a team-first mindset

Assets (Not Required)

Skid steer experience (especially foot-controlled) First Aid Certification Experience with hardscaping, finish grading, or drainage work
