Job Description

Key Responsibilities



Operate heavy equipment to bale and load waste or other materials into trailers. Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on equipment. Grease/lubricate equipment and check/add fluids daily. Safely steer, guide, and operate equipment using controls such as steering wheels, levers, pedals, and buttons. Substitute for other operators as needed to maintain workflow. Clean debris from equipment tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or as required. Communicate with co-workers and supervisors using a two-way radio regarding daily tasks and priorities. Maintain cleanliness and appearance of facility grounds. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state/provincial, and local regulations. Attend safety meetings and branch meetings. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements



High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Forklift certification required. Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed. Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English. Basic math skills and ability to read and understand equipment gauges. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



Strong attention to safety and detail. Ability to follow instructions and solve routine operational problems. Physically capable of frequently lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Physical & Mental Demands



Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands and fingers. Visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Ability to work in physically demanding environments.

Working Conditions



Outdoor work environment 100% of the time. Exposure to loud noise, weather conditions, vibration, moving mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles. Work performed in heavy equipment cabs but exposed to weather (except during lightning storms). Occasional work at heights or in precarious locations.
