Haliscape Construction is hiring a skilled

Heavy Equipment Operator

to support residential site development projects throughout the Halifax area. This full-time, long-term position involves operating excavators, loaders, and related equipment for grading, trenching, backfilling, and material movement. Position Highlights

Operate

excavators, loaders, and skid steers

for residential construction and landscaping work Perform trenching, grading, and backfilling according to site plans and grade requirements Keep equipment in good shape with

daily inspections

and minor preventative maintenance Work closely with site supervisors and team members to ensure efficient workflow Maintain

clean, safe job sites

and follow all safety procedures Provide snow support in winter (snow clearing, plowing, etc.)

What You Bring to the Table

At least

2 years' experience operating excavators or loaders

in construction or landscaping Familiarity with site layout, grade stakes, and reading basic site plans Class 5 driver's license and

reliable transportation

(sites not on transit routes) Solid mechanical sense and basic troubleshooting ability Physically able to work outdoors in a variety of conditions Great communication, teamwork, and a professional attitude

Additional Skills That Are an Asset

Comfortable operating a

skid steer (foot controlled)

First Aid or safety training certification Experience with hardscape prep or finish grading in landscaping settings

Job Type: Full-time, permanent Hours: 40-50 per week (Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays if needed) Location: Work takes place in West Bedford and HRM Start Date: ASAP Language Requirements: English only - French not required
