Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in maintaining and repairing a fleet of John Deere Tractors. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, on call on the road as well as part of a team. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently for day-to-day snow removal.

Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical issues in tractors and repair. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and tractor machinery. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs if necessary. Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical or hydraulic problems. Conduct assembly tasks for new equipment installations or upgrades. Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on each piece of equipment. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team regarding their equipment needs. Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating heavy machinery during repairs. Must be prepared to work early hours within the winter season. Routine inventory of supplies and equipment.

Experience

Previous mechanic experience with tractors, farm equipment or similar environment is preferred. Familiarity with John Deere machinery and systems. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for various repair tasks. Experience working with industrial equipment and automotive repair is beneficial. Electrical experience is advantageous for diagnosing complex issues in machinery.
