Job summary



Under the supervision of the Fleet and Transportation Manager, the Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of equipment and materials using heavy trucks or other vehicles, on various job sites across Canada. He/she is also responsible for vehicle maintenance and regulatory compliance, and may be called upon to support the on-site team in various related tasks.

Specific duties and responsibilities



Drive heavy trucks and other vehicles to transport equipment and materials to construction sites across Canada;

v Ensure that the load is properly stowed and secured, either by himself or by a third party, and assume responsibility for it;

Verify that his vehicle is in good working order, perform the required basic maintenance and ensure that all transport documents are in order before each departure; immediately report any non-compliance to his supervisor;

Comply with all applicable transportation laws and regulations (e.g. Log Book, Highway Traffic Act, provincial, federal and municipal legislation);

Hold a valid driver's license and immediately inform the employer of any change that may affect its validity or ability to drive;

Operates flatbed or lowboy trucks to transport, load, and unload forestry equipment across job sites and remote locations."

Transmit his/her driving record to LEG annually;

Report promptly any incident, accident, infraction or event occurring during the course of his/her duties, and participate in any related investigation process;

Apply the policies, procedures and instructions issued by LEG and its clients;

Sign an annual undertaking to comply with company policies and procedures;

Demonstrate professional behavior at all times to protect LEG's equipment, reputation and integrity, as well as those of its clients;

Provide punctual support to the on-site team for related tasks as required.

Academic background



Valid Class AZ driver's license;

Good knowledge of road transport laws and regulations;

Experience in driving heavy trucks (asset);

Sense of responsibility, autonomy and thoroughness;

Safe attitude and team spirit; Willingness to travel across Canada.

Experience required



5-7 years

Technical skills and competencies required



Ability to read and interpret transport documents, road regulations and internal policies;

Mastery of safe load securing according to current standards;

Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine vehicle maintenance (pre-trip checks, visual inspection, etc.);

Appropriate use of Log Book or electronic logging tools;

Ability to spot mechanical faults and report them quickly;

Ability to use GPS, road map and plan transport routes effectively;

Clear and effective communication with supervisors, colleagues and customers;

Management of time and priorities while respecting delivery deadlines and safety standards.
