We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Heavy Duty Off Road Mechanic to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy-duty machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, with expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex systems across various types of heavy equipment.
FT has a new Mechanical building that is under renovation to be completed in spring.
This is a steady and consistent schedule. 5 days a week 10 hour shifts. All stat holidays off as well flexible to discuss holiday time.
We have two talented apprentices in their 3rd and 4th periods and a Service Manager that assists in taking care of all our FT heavy equipment and crushing equipment.
Duties
Flexible to do field work at our different pits but based out of the main Mechanical shop in Camrose. The successful candidate will have his own FT Service Truck.
Diagnose mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics to ensure accurate repairs.
Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions and all mechanical needs to maintain equipment and vehicle safety.
Collaborate with team members and Service Manager for projects.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment and vehicles and collaborate with the Service Manager.
The ability to stop and assess risk analysis and ask questions to protect the company.
Requirements
Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy-duty off-road vehicles.
Flexibility to work on FT's on Road trucks and trailers and be a part of the decision if a On Road Heavy Duty Mechanic is also needed.

Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed however schedule can be discussed in more detail at the interview. Aiming for 5 days a week 45-55 hours per week.
The focus for this next year will be setting up structure in the new Mechanic building with the team and supporting FT's 100 plus pieces of equipment and crushing gear. However with the right Candidate or possibly two on the team we may expand to offering service to outside work.
Compensating fairly is important to us and will be assessed by management annually at the review. We stated $40-$55/hour to start. Experience will also be discussed at the interview. At 1 year that will be assessed based on experience and the responsibility taken on.
