The Heavy Duty Parts Manager is responsible for leading the internal parts department supporting the company's fleet maintenance and repair operations. This role manages two Parts Technicians and oversees the procurement, inventory control, and asset management of all heavy-duty parts, components, and consumables. The ideal candidate provides strong leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction/decision-making abilities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and maintain reliable parts availability for technicians.
Duties:
Including but not limited to;
Lead and supervise the parts team, including scheduling, training, timecard/time off approvals, performance management, and workflow coordination.
Oversee all internal parts operations including inventory controls, service orders/approvals, invoice processing and year end balances.
Manage asset tracking for parts, tools, and other consumables to ensure accountability and minimize losses.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with vendors to secure best-value purchasing and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Maintain an efficient inventory control system.
Develop and execute purchasing strategies to achieve cost reduction.
Review & correct system discrepancies.
Analyze parts usage and spending trends to optimize working capital.
Collaborate with service to align parts inventory with scheduled repairs and preventive maintenance processes.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and audit requirements.
Maintain accurate records of parts transactions, warranties, and core returns.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost control.
Qualifications:
Journeyperson Parts Technician Certificate required.
In-depth knowledge of the heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy-duty parts management, preferably in a fleet or service environment.
Proven leadership experience managing small teams.
Demonstrated ability to implement cost-saving strategies and manage budgets effectively.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Strong organization, time management, communication, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and basic computer functions.
Ability to lift to approx. 50 Lbs.

Compensation:
$87,000 - $95,000 annually.
