Description :SMS Equipment is growing!! We are looking for Heavy Equipment Technicians / Heavy Duty Mechanics with Journeyperson certification to join our team! Our Heavy Equipment Technicians are responsible for providing repairs for our customers on construction and mining related heavy equipment. This position will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting. This position is in Whitehorse, YK.The shift rotation for this position is 14x14, if local to the area a 5x2 shift is available.The hourly rate for this position is $49.25 per hour plus applicable premiums.Travel allowance and housing is available.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
• Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
• Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
• Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
• Work remotely in adverse weather conditions. Job tasks may be physically demanding lifting up to 50 lbs. Confined Space work is required.

Qualifications:The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Other requirements include:

• Strong commitment to safety
• Experience in repair/maintenance of heavy equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication
• This position may require the ability to travel and meet customer site requirements
• Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset
• Interprovincial Red Seal is considered an asset
• Valid Class 5/G Drivers License

This position is required to regularly work at our customers\xe2\x80\x99 location. Below are the current requirements from our customers that all candidates need to be able to complete to gain access to their worksite:
