Join us!Role:Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanics perform major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of vehicles, vehicle attachments and material handling equipment. This position requires you to work days and afternoon shift with partial weekends, as required.Salary: Intermodal Heavy Duty Mechanics earn a of: Days $46.23/HourAfternoons $47.73/HourCritical performance areas include the following:xc2xb7 Inspect, service and maintain Intermodal cranes, terminal tractors, vehicles and equipment, in accordance with federal and company regulations, including changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts.xc2xb7 Diagnose diesel / gas engine, electrical, hydraulic, driveline malfunctions and making required repairs.xc2xb7 Use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment and other vehicle repair tools and equipment, and operate said tools and machinery in a safe and effective manner.xc2xb7 Use measuring devices and understanding visual displays.xc2xb7 Repair various yard equipment machinery.xc2xb7 Prepare inspection, maintenance, and work reports, and record details on prescribed forms in accordance with established procedures.Working Conditions:xc2xb7 Ability to work irregular shifts, including evenings, midnights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.xc2xb7 Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, performing overhead work, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds (22 kg).xc2xb7 Shop environment, ability to work inside shop and outside shop in all weather conditions.xc2xb7 Must be able to work at heights up to 60 feet.xc2xb7 Comply with safe work procedures and policies.Employment Requirements:xc2xb7 High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED).xc2xb7 Diploma of Vocational Studies in Heavy Duty Mechanic.xc2xb7 Diesel mechanic, Automotive, Truck & Coach, Hydraulics experience.xc2xb7 Valid driver's license.xc2xb7 Technical knowledge of diesel mechanics.xc2xb7 Good hand-eye coordination.xc2xb7 Possess your own tools sufficient to perform repairs and service on small equipment. Tools specific to the railway are supplied by the company.Assets:xc2xb7 Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems.xc2xb7 Commercial Transport or preferably Heavy Duty Working experience.xc2xb7 Welding skills.xc2xb7 Relevant work experience in similar working conditions or regulatory/safety environment.xc2xb7 Post-secondary education.xc2xb7 Basic computer skills.Training:Successful candidates will receive paid on-the-job training on new products and updates as required by the company, both theoretical and practical instructions.Depending on your level of experience, candidates must have completed 2nd year and registered with trade branch for 3rd year and will attend a series of courses at your work location in Canada or away from your work area for training purposes. Training will include intermodal equipment components, control systems, air brakes, start up, basic diesel electric systems and CN maintenance regulations. Truck motors, data recorders, as well as fuel, oil, water and air systems will also be covered.
