THE OPPORTUNITYAre you a certified trades person looking to join a xe2x80x9cbest in classxe2x80x9d maintenance team? Western Forest Products is hiring for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Value Added Division located in Chemainus, BC.What We Offer:

• This is a PPWC unionized position with a wage rate of $50.27/hour as per the collective agreement.
• Hourly premiums of $0.60/hour on shifts that are outside the recognized day shift.

Shifts: Monday-Friday or Tuesday-SaturdayThis position is considered safety sensitive, the successful candidate will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate and follow westerns health and safety program and policies
• Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical & electrical on mobile fleet
• Work with dealers/vendors on maintaining inventory on critical components of equipment
• Perform minor welding repairs on equipment
• Ensure equipment repair log books are up to date and accurate
• Maintain a organized and clean shop
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience

• Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic;
• All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract;

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

• Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast sawmill equipment (forklifts, boom boats, skid steers and log Loaders);
• Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit;
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;
• Excellent safety record and strong work ethic.
• Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills
• Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement
• Accountable and dependable
