Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre provides 24-hour emergency services, medical and surgical wards, rehabilitation, chronic pain and ambulatory care, a diagnostic lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging departments. This busy healthcare facility requires dedicated security professionals to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises including entrances, exits, parking areas, and patient care areas.
Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, responding quickly to suspicious activity.
Access Control: Manage entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
Emergency Response: Act swiftly during medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security incidents, assisting staff and supporting evacuation procedures if needed.
Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and handle conflicts calmly and professionally.
Report Writing: Complete accurate reports on incidents, security breaches, and daily activities.
Collaboration: Work alongside hospital staff and local law enforcement for coordinated security efforts.
Policy Enforcement: Uphold hospital protocols and safety standards.
Requirements:
Must-Have Criteria:
Eligible to obtain a Security License in Nova Scotia (company-paid)
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (CSA-approved vendor)
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses)
Immunization records (MMRV + two-step TB skin test)
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Ability to work 12-hour rotational shifts (07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00)
Physically capable of patrolling, standing, and responding to incidents
Ability to de-escalate conflicts and manage aggressive behavior
High school diploma or GED
Willingness to participate in pre-requisite UoF/MOAB training if not already certified (6-month commitment)
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Current UoF/MOAB certifications
Previous experience in healthcare security or hospital environments
Background in security, law enforcement, or related field
Experience with surveillance monitoring
Bilingual abilities (English/French or other languages)
