Reporting to the Manager, Health & Wellness, you will join a team of Health & Wellness professionals at our Halifax location where we offer you a hybrid work option.Key elements of this role include:

  • Proactive case management of disability claims (e.g. Short-Term Illness, WCB, Fit for Work, Accommodation and Intermittent Absence)
  • Coordinate assessments, medical consultations, and healthcare services to support employee rehabilitation and reintegration into the workplace
  • Liaison with employee\xe2\x80\x99s healthcare providers, leaders, HR, and healthcare providers to implement early, safe return to work and accommodation plans
  • Coordinate preventative health services such as immunizations, health screenings, and executing health promotion activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of wellness services and programs
  • Collect and analyze health and benefit-related related data, report on effectiveness of programs and share trend and opportunity analysis with management
  • Champion health, safety and wellness initiatives working in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Promote awareness of health and safety issues by assisting with employee and Leader orientation/ training and by creating communications for distribution (e.g. publishing articles, posting notices, recording videos, etc.)
  • Comply with ethical, professional, and legal requirements based on NS Power policies and procedures, as well as Federal and Provincial legislative regulations
  • Attend and/or consult with committees such as Health and Safety as needed
  • Prepare and maintain job related records, reports, and other assigned documents
  • Participate in rotating after hours on call response for critical incidents (following period of training)

  • Minimum Bachelor\'s level degree or college diploma in health-related field (e.g. Kinesiology, Disability Management, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience in disability or WCB case management and/or experience as a Wellness Specialist, Rehabilitation Consultant, Occupational Therapist or Consultant, or any other regulated health care field) or equivalent experience;
  • Strong planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills and are able to successfully navigate different priorities and timelines;
  • Solution-oriented and demonstrated experience influencing change;
  • Thoughtful leader who is analytical and knows how to conduct detailed analysis to seek opportunities for continuous improvement;
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills with an ability to build effective relationships to operate successfully;
  • Like to work in a team setting but equally takes ownership for delivery of assigned tasks;
  • Well organized, capable of prioritizing high-level work under tight timelines, and able to exercise sound judgement under pressure;
  • Excellent writing skills for items including policy briefing materials, presentations, or reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset;
  • Accreditation or certification in disability management would be considered an asset, i.e., Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC), Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE)
