About the Role
As a
Health Support Assistant
, you'll work under the supervision of licensed nurses to assist with camper wellness and healthcare delivery in a dynamic outdoor setting. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for
first-year RN or LPN students
who want hands-on experience in disability-inclusive care and camp-based health services.
Key Responsibilities
Camper Wellness Support
Assist in monitoring campers for signs of illness or distress.
Help with hydration reminders, sunscreen application, and hygiene check-ins.
Support medication rounds by preparing supplies for supervising nurses.
Health Centre Operations
Restock and organize supplies in the Health Centre.
Maintain clean, sanitary spaces in accordance with protocols.
Assist with health screening check-in tasks for arriving campers.
Team Support & Communication
Flag any health concerns to the senior health team.
Communicate respectfully with campers, families, and staff.
Promote a safe and inclusive camp environment.
You Bring
Enrollment in the
first year
of a
Registered Nursing (RN)
or
Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN)
program.
Proof of enrollment
(acceptance letter, transcript, or registrar confirmation).
Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
(or willingness to obtain prior to start).
Organized, observant, and eager to learn in a fast-paced setting.
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with people with disabilities.
CSJ Grant Eligibility (for July 5 - August 29)
You must:
Be between
15-30 years of age
at the start of employment.
Be a
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
with a valid work permit.
Be legally entitled to work in Alberta.
