Salary: $52,553 to $65,696 annually
Shifts: 8 hours (Days/Evenings/Weekends) with rotating On-Call duties
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary
The Health Services Registered Practical Nurse (HS RPN) will work with a team of health care professionals in the Occupational Health (OH) Clinic and will practices in accordance with relevant legislation / standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession. The HS RPN will utilize specialized knowledge in occupational health and safety and case and contact management and experience to determine fitness to perform and accommodation staff needs
Duties

  • Coordinate all efforts related to the management of communicable and vaccine preventable diseases
  • Perform all activities to support outbreaks and exposures
  • Provide health care to employees in clinical setting
  • Ensure employee compliance with the Ontario Public Hospital Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Board Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and other applicable legislations
  • Employ the principles of disability management related to non-complex workplace injuries to actively manage and ensure disabled employees are provided with appropriate job placements to effect early and safe return to work, reducing time loss and improving productivity.
  • Manage employees absent from the workplace, due to noncomplex illness or injury
  • Manage the return to work process, advise management and union on appropriate job placement
  • Ensure the Hospital meets legislative requirements in the interest of a safe and healthy work environment
  • Perform communication and administrative responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Licensure/ Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario RPN)
  • Completion of or actively enrolled in attaining credentials in the field of Disability Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety COHN and/or ICP preferred
  • Two (2) years recent direct patient care Nursing experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II: Basic Rescuer certification
  • Sound knowledge of communicable diseases and associated vaccination
  • Venipuncture skills required
  • Ability to effectively triage patients that walk into the OH Clinic or call on the telephone
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize the nursing process and advanced assessment skills in planning, implementing and evaluation care and making clinical decisions
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Membership with the Ontario Occupational Health Nurse Association preferred
  • Working knowledge of OH&S, Human Rights and WSIB legislation preferred
