Health & Safety Co-op Student

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and service-oriented Health & Safety Co-op Student with an outstanding problem-solving mindset to join our team. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the Health & Safety Co-op Student will provide administrative support to enable the achievement of organizational goals and data management. This position is full-time, Monday to Friday on site at our head office/production facility in Guelph, ON, this position will be from January-April 2026. This is a great opportunity for co-op or recent graduate!
Key Responsibilities Include:
Maintaining employee Health and Safety records
Assist with co-ordination and delivery of training to hourly employees
Assist with coordinating safety related upgrades/changes with the Manufacturing Engineering group
Assist with organizing Wellness programs such as annual Flu Clinics, lunch & learns, wellness fair etc
Assist with identification and analyzing of trends and development of action plans to reduce frequency and severity
Analysis of near miss incidents
Maintaining current SPI's (Standard Practice Instructions), policies and Emergency Preparedness Plans (corporate, Guelph and Aberfoyle)
Ensuring policies/SPI's are reviewed annually and updated as needed based on legal changes, procedural changes, etc
Audit of Safety Data Sheets - ensuring the most recent copies are on file and associated WHMIS label are current to meet legislative requirements
Assistance with WSIB Health and Safety Excellence Program Requirements
Other tasks and/or projects as assigned
Do you qualify? We are seeking:
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a post-secondary Human Resources Management program or Occupational Health and Safety Management Program
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Dedicated to customer service, and excels in a self-directed team environment
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and use of Office Suites, specifically Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
Working experience with HRIS an asset
