About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable
Health and Safety Representative
to join our construction team. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on-site, maintaining compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks
Maintain detailed records of incidents, inspections, and training
Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation and company policies* Investigate workplace incidents and recommend preventive measures
Collaborate with site supervisors and workers to promote safe practices
Monitor use of PPE and ensure proper safety signage is in place
Support emergency response planning and drills
Qualifications:
Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NCSO, CRSP,or equivalent)
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in construction safety or related field
In-depth knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and construction safety standards
Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple job sites
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
WHMIS and CSTS certification (preferred)
Experience conducting incident investigations and writing reports
Ability to train and mentor workers on safety procedures and protocols
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
