Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Officer to oversee and promote safety protocols within our Logistics and Trucking environment. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, fostering a culture of safety, and reducing workplace hazards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a secure work environment through proactive safety management, training, and development initiatives.

Duties

Oversee and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management System to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement. Coordinate and manage regular safety inspections, audits, and equipment maintenance schedules. Lead and document incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Administer and maintain core safety certifications and ensure timely renewals. Stay current with WorkSafeBC regulations and apply industry best practices. Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments; implement effective mitigation strategies. Facilitate employee orientation and safety training; follow up on corrective actions. Develop, implement, and review safety policies and procedures to align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Oversee health and safety structures and Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) across all locations. Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement. Ensure annual evaluations are completed and submitted as required. Track and analyze health and safety data and report findings to management. Lead JHSC meetings, prepare agendas, record and post minutes in accordance with regulations. Perform other health and safety duties as required.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power point, etc.) Detail oriented Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $30.00-$33.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
