What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do
It\xe2\x80\x99s safe to say, there\xe2\x80\x99s no shortage of variety in what we do. Here are some key accountabilities of the role:
  • This position is accountable for supporting the Health and Safety (H&S) strategy by partnering with District Managers (DM) and Regional Partners across Western Canada to implement operational controls that will identify, develop, and coach Store Management on H&S policies, procedures, and processes. This position is also responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing sustainable and scalable H&S training programs, solutions, and initiatives.
  • Provide Health and Safety leadership to a designated region by participating in leadership discussions, delivering presentations, and serving as a subject matter expert on committees and working groups .
  • Monitors and regularly reviews evolving regional legislation, regulations, and operational execution to ensure TJXC policies and programs maintain compliance.
  • Supports operations in provincial government agency inspections/investigations and partners with Regional Partners in meeting compliance.
  • Accountable for reviewing H&S reporting metrics and providing trends, insights and develop recommendations on improvements related to H&S compliance and incident reduction.
  • Supports the implementation of H&S operational training programs with regional operations, including setting milestones, identifying required resources, establishing interdependencies & cross-functional timelines, to ensure training objectives are delivered on-time, within budget while maintaining minimal disruption to the business.
  • Works collaboratively with Field H&S team to share insights, best practices, and support consistency of H&S program delivery across Canada.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need
To begin your career with us, we require the following:
  • Minimum of 5 years as a safety professional within the Health & Safety (H&S) industry and post-secondary education. A professional Safety designation (NCSO, CRSP) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to interpret provincial legislation and regulations and apply to TJX policies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence business including strong consulting, listening, and information gathering skills.
  • Able to work independently/self-leader and as part of a team; strong ability to build close working relationships by building credibility, respect, and rapport to positively influence management and associates to act in the best interest of TJX.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to provide solutions; ability to leverage prior experience and adapt quickly to the changing work environment.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written), networking skills, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced with hazard identification, investigation skills and managing corrective action plans.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality; requires discretion and thorough knowledge of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s operations, procedures, and policies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally (car and air), valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license required.
