What you will be doing:
Oversee Health & Safety matters of the project.
Assist in developing/revising the project Safety Management System (SMS), including Policies, Plans and Procedures.
Ensure compliance with the Provincial and Federal Health, Safety & Environmental requirements
Assist in achieving and maintain the Certificate of Recognition (COR) registration
Advise and guide the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings.
Prepare, deliver and/ or organize training programs.
Lead incident investigation teams
Identify non-conformities and make recommendations to achieve compliance.
Conduct regular site inspections and/or audits and ensure resolution of findings.
Partner with Project Management team to ensure timely H&S communication
Confirm that all employees in the group are properly qualified and trained to perform their work specifically to safety.
Review subcontractor qualification
Attend Pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other required meetings.
Liaise with governing agencies.
What we are looking for:
A Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and/or equivalent trade experience.
Minimum of 6 years' experience in heavy civil construction, with at least two years as a manager.
Thorough knowledge of Health and Safety Management for Heavy Civil construction projects including dams, road building, railway, bridges, ports etc.
Thorough knowledge of local, provincial and national government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, Codes and Practices as they apply to the construction industry.
Proven leadership qualities with a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with workplace parties.
Results oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines.
The ability to influence partners and stakeholders
Valid Driver's license.
