About the Role
We're looking for an on-site Health & Safety Inspector who can keep our field operations tight, compliant, and safe. This role is hands-on at our telecom construction sites, ensuring our crews stay aligned with Ontario H&S legislation, ESA requirements, and internal safety standards. You'll be the go-to presence in the field, supporting our supervisors, coaching the teams, and making sure we're always audit-ready.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily site inspections across civil, fibre, and utility-related telecom construction projects.
Verify compliance with Ontario OHS legislation, ESA standards, company policies, and safe-work procedures.
Identify hazards, document findings, and provide clear corrective action plans to site leadership.
Perform toolbox talks, spot checks, safety onboarding, and field coaching for new and existing crew members.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events; complete required reports and follow-ups.
Support JHSC activities and participate in monthly inspections when required.
Ensure subcontractors meet all safety requirements before mobilization and throughout project execution.
Review PPE usage, equipment condition, and site-specific safety controls (LOCATES, trenching, traffic control, confined space, overhead/underground utilities, hydrovac operations, etc.).
Track compliance trends, escalate recurring issues, and support continuous improvement across the field teams.
Partner with Project Managers, Construction Supervisors, and HR on safety matters, documentation, and worker support.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in construction health & safety (telecom, civil, or utility construction is preferred).
Solid understanding of Ontario OHSA, ESA, utility locates, trenching and excavation rules, and traffic control standards.
Valid Ontario driver's license and able to travel regularly to multiple sites.
Health & Safety certifications are strong assets (COR, CHSO, JHSC Part 1 + 2, Working at Heights Instructor, etc.).
Strong communication style -- clear, steady, and able to coach crews in fast-paced environments.
Comfortable working outdoors year-round and navigating active construction zones
