The opportunity
Our Coastal Gas Link team is looking to add a Health & Safety Coordinator to our team in Prince George, BC. Reporting to the Manager, Safety, this position is responsible for supporting and monitoring Health & Safety throughout all phases of Pipeline Projects and Operations.

We are seeking an experienced individual who has strong leadership characteristics, a passion for safety, with a proven track record of influencing teams to positive outcomes. This position will provide effective support to operations personnel and project teams, and assists with the implementation of the TC Energy\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Management System (TOMS) and its associated programs.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Work closely with the Coastal Gas Link Operations and Integration team develop and implement the Safety Management Program for the region in compliance with applicable regulations and in alignment TC Energy Mandated Programs
  • Collaborate with our safety team, through our central safety team, and with industry partners to continually enhance and execute on our safety vision, strategy, and tactics to drive to zero is real
  • Maintain statistical databases, trending and reports on operational and contractor safety metrics and data to validate the performance of our safety program and identify opportunities
  • Conduct and act as an expert resource for incident, near hit, and 24/7 SHARE investigations, developing and implementing innovative and practical solutions
  • Effectively promote a proactive, positive safety culture
  • Provide overall H&S support for regionally and support the H&S teams
  • Regular field visits to station/pipeline work sites to ensure health and safety standards are maintained and supported
  • Prepare/provide safety training and awareness presentations at meetings
  • Develop and review Site Specific Safety Plans, Emergency Response Plans, Journey Management Plans, etc. Actively participate in H&S-related meetings (pre-job, safety stand-down, project lessons learned, incident response meetings, etc.)
  • Lead and complete regional and project H&S inspections and audits to evaluate compliance
  • Interact with regulators and external visitors during onsite inspections
  • Promote and support use of the Environment, Health, Safety Management Incident reporting database Analyze H&S related data, provide and present consolidated reports on H&S performance for various stakeholders
  • Provide root cause analysis expertise and lead/assist with incident investigations, review incident reports for accuracy and coach employees, as required
  • Assist with the implementation and tracking of H&S corrective actions to address planned inspection, audit findings, and incident investigation outcomes
  • Evaluate and participate in job safety analyses, pre-start up reviews and commissioning
  • Conduct various assessments, ergonomic, illumination, and sound surveys


Minimum Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field
  • 4 years of Health, Safety and Environment experience
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation (or in progress)
  • Strong technical safety expertise (risk management and safety management systems, loss control management, hazard identification, incident investigations, emergency preparedness and response, design engineering)
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of past and emerging HS&E
  • Knowledge of Federal, British Columbia and Alberta OH&S Legislation


Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of Health, Safety and Environment experience
  • Proven ability to make decisions where only general policies and procedures are available requiring application of judgment and independent action


This position requires the successful candidate to:
  • Have and maintain a valid driver\'s license and provide a driver\'s abstract (record) for review
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel across the Region to facility locations (primarily in Northern BC and Alberta) 10-15 days/month
