We are currently seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Coordinator with strong experience in the construction industry and direct involvement in the COR (Certificate of Recognition) program. The successful candidate will support site teams in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, and managing the requirements for COR certification and maintenance.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the company's COR-certified safety program across all construction sites.
Conduct and coordinate internal COR audits; prepare and support teams for external audits.
Maintain and organize all documentation required for COR compliance, including training records, inspection logs, and corrective actions.
Conduct regular site visits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure hazards are identified, reported, and controlled.
Participate in and/or lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses; document findings and implement corrective actions.
Assist with safety orientation and ongoing training for workers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
Facilitate weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings with field personnel.
Ensure all construction projects are operating in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WSIB, and applicable regulations.
Support and participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and activities.
Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement to senior management.
Foster a strong culture of safety on-site through engagement, coaching, and leadership.
Requirements
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of health and safety experience in the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with COR certification and audit processes is mandatory.
Familiarity with provincial health and safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and educate field personnel.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and safety management software platforms.
Valid G-class driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites within GTA
Working Conditions:
Split between field and office environments.
Must be comfortable working on active construction sites, including outdoor conditions.
Use of PPE required while on site.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
