Your Opportunity:

AHS is looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative individual with population health promotion experience to join the Tobacco, Vaping, and Cannabis Program (TVCP). Reporting to the Manager of TVCP, the Health Promotion Facilitator II (HPF II) will collaborate on planning, designing, and implementing provincial public health initiatives focused on reducing the harmful effects of tobacco vaping and cannabis use in Alberta. They accomplish this by working with diverse partners, including internal staff and departments, government, community partners and external agencies. A member of an interdisciplinary and provincial team, the HPF II focuses broadly on the areas of primary prevention, cessation/lower-risk use, and protection including healthy public settings. Key duties will include synthesizing evidence and information from multiple sources into various deliverables; developing project plans and supporting implementation; facilitating working groups or teams; developing and completing quality improvement processes; and building capacity amongst secondary populations such as educators, community leaders, workplaces and healthcare settings. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work arrangements located anywhere in the province of Alberta.

Description:

As a Health Promotion Facilitator II, you will lead and coordinate health promotion, disease and injury prevention initiatives and programs using a population health promotion approach. You will identify behavioural, social, political, economic, environmental and organizational factors that promote or compromise health and recommend evidence-informed strategies to address identified priorities. You will conduct situational analyses, literature reviews, environmental scans and focus groups to make recommendations as part of an integrated program planning and evaluation process. You will manage projects using standardized tools and techniques that are conducive or aligned with health promotion, disease and injury prevention practices. You will collaborate with key internal and external key stakeholders in project or program planning, development, implementation, evaluation and improvement. You will facilitate community and staff engagement and build community and staff capacity around population health promotion priorities. You will evaluate the effectiveness of existing health promotion and disease prevention strategies and make recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Health Promotion, Public or Population Health, Health Education or a related field. Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in health promotion or related field. Knowledge of and experience applying the population health promotion model, relevant health promotion strategies, determinants of health, and health equity. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in tobacco, vaping and/or cannabis protection, prevention, and cessation work. Comprehensive content expertise in tobacco, vaping, and cannabis harm reduction. Demonstrated ability to facilitate and mobilize diverse groups and build consensus. Experience in project/program management and program planning, development and implementation. Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into high-quality deliverables (technical reports, strategic plans, presentations, creative writing pieces). Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of disciplines, sectors and internal and external stakeholders/partners. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with diverse and high-risk populations is an asset.
