Job Description

The Centre for Distance Education (CD-ED), a division of Eastern College Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Health Information Management (HIM) instructor for a full-time position with our online HIM program. The HIM diploma program at CD-ED is operational 365 days of the year, with monthly intakes and students located across Canada and internationally. This is a fully remote position. Primary Responsibilities: Reporting to the HIM Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for all online instruction activities of identified courses. These activities include creating and marking assignments and quizzes, answering emails, providing exemplary online and phone support to students, and developing new materials as required. The specific courses to be instructed include, but are not limited to Canadian Health Systems, HIM I, HIM II, Synthesis and assisting with Practicum Placements. You will not be required to instruct students in Classifications. The HIM Instructor will support the vision, mission, and values of Eastern College while contributing to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion. Qualifications:

• Certification in Health Information Management
• Minimum of three years’ HIM experience post-certification
• Experience in instructing in an adult education environment would be an asset.
• Degree would be an asset
• Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual team as all instructors work remotely from home
• Willingness to work flexible hours is an asset.

Compensation: This is a full-time position with salary and benefits. Hours of Work: This position will work 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. Hours of work will be scheduled based on availability.
