PDCI is seeking a Health Economist and HTA Associate to support the development and execution of Canadian reimbursement submissions.

Ideal candidates will reside within the Ottawa - ON, GTA - ON, Montreal - QC or Vancouver - BC regions.

Primary Role:

1. The Health Economist and HTA Associate supports the development of strategic, evidence-based economic components (e.g., health economic and budget impact models and reports) for submission to Canadian Health Technology Assessment (HTA) bodies and public/private payers. In this role, the Health Economist and HTA Associate will require:

  • Knowledge and understanding of HTA process, private and public payer markets, their drug review processes and reimbursement trends affecting market access
  • The ability to support the design and build/adaptation of budget impact analyses and health economic models (i.e., cost-utility) for Canadian HTA submissions in Microsoft Excel using Visual Basic for Applications
  • The ability to critically appraise economic evidence and scientific literature, and analyze and report model results for submission to Canadian HTA agencies
  • Ability to synthesize, interpret, and communicate economic data, and perform quality assurance checks on economic models and reports
2. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, contribute to the development of strategic analysis plans, and identify and develop innovative strategies and tactics to optimize pricing, reimbursement and market access opportunities.

3. Ensure PDCI is at the forefront of trends and policy matters affecting HTA, pricing, market access and the pharmaceutical industry.

4. Initiate, develop and nurture client relationships through consistently providing sound, trust-worthy information and advice and producing quality deliverables.

5. Mentor/coach staff in decision-analytic modelling.

Requirements (experience, academic qualifications, skills, attributes):
  • Graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., health services research, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics)
  • Strong background in Health Economic Analysis and HTA with relevant experience in decision-analytic modeling
  • Knowledge and experience with programming cost-utility models in Microsoft Excel including Visual Basic for Applications, proficiency with R an asset
  • Familiarity with the CADTH economic evaluation guidelines as well as the BIA requirements for provincial and federal drug benefit programs in Canada
  • The ideal candidate would also have a basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods (i.e. Bayesian statistics) and familiarity with techniques such as development of meta-analysis, indirect comparisons, network meta-analysis, predictive equations, survival analysis (including parametric methods), longitudinal data analysis, and other hierarchical analysis techniques, etc.
  • Practical experience in the application of statistics in health technology appraisal, health economics, outcomes research or clinical data analysis is preferred.
  • Quality and efficiency: excellent analytical and organizational skills with a superior attention to detail
  • Effective team player
  • Multi-tasker: ability to balance multiple priorities, projects and deadlines
  • Superior communication skills, strategic thinking, and a strong ability to convey technical and scientific information
  • Fluency in English is essential for the position with fluency in French an asset, but not essential

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$56,600 - $94,300
