Overview

Are you an individual with great administrative and customer-service skills? We're looking for three health care payment officer to join our Workers Travel Team, Health Benefits Unit and Payment Services team within the Health Care Operations department. In this role, you'll be calculating payments, therefore, sound math skills will be an asset to assist you with adjudicating and processing accounts for medical treatment expenses. Your exemplary communication skills and diplomacy are essential to ensure courteous, empathetic service when providing information and recommendations to injured workers and other connections.

These opportunities are approximately 18 months in length. At this time, this is a hybrid position where you will work primarily at home and be on-site at our Richmond office once per quarter or based on operational needs.

What you'll do

As a health care payment officer you will:

  • Entitle and process health care benefits and travel arrangements for injured workers
  • Process invoices and answer inquiries from health care providers, vendors, and workers
  • Communicate with claimants, internal staff, physicians, hospitals, etc., to obtain or clarify payment information
  • Authorize and process health care expenditures on a variety of payment systems

  • Communicate in a persuasive, empathetic, respectful manner by listening and questioning for pertinent information
  • Gather and analyze information, determine relevant facts, and apply established policy to make timely decisions
  • Organize, prioritize, and multi-task in an environment that includes interruptions and changing priorities
  • Clearly, concisely, and accurately explain complex information both verbally and in writing
Your experience and educational background:
  • A minimum of grade 12 education (some post-secondary education is preferred)
  • Recent work experience in an administrative or general office/business environment
  • Experience working in a call center is an asset
  • Type a minimum of 35 words per minute
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
