Stettler Long Term Care is a 50 bed unit where you will work within a multidisciplinary team environment, caring for residents with diverse medical needs. As an HCA, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents & utilize your knowledge, skills, & abilities to competently provide direct resident centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest & skills in providing care to the elderly residents, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementia. Stettler is located in the "Heart of Alberta", just 179km southeast of Edmonton & 101km east of Red Deer. It serves as a regional hub with a main trading area involving over 11, 000 people. The town has a wide assortment of community facilities including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a library, twin arenas, an aquatic centre, a performing arts theatre, & much more. The area also has a few golf courses and is close to Buffalo Lake. This position qualifies for the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program, which reimburses $4,000 per year (up to a maximum of 5 years) for working in the rural setting. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if you will be restricted to work at only one LTC site in Alberta.

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
