Your Opportunity:The Health Care Aide provides patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Under the close supervision of the Program Manager or designate, the Health Care Aide is responsible for assisting the patients with their activities of daily living to facilitate comfort, safety and general well being; and assisting in maintaining a clean, safe environment for patients through the application of universal precautions. The successful candidate will be required to work to full scope of practice as defined by the specific unit.Description:As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently. Must have one year recent nursing experience with the geriatric population and chronically ill. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Well-developed time management skills. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment; constant walking, lifting and bending necessary. Preferred Qualifications:Connect care training an asset.
