Your Opportunity:

The Health Care Aide functions as a member of the multidisciplinary care team by providing safe, patient focused health care services for patients on the Post-Acute and Medicine Unit at the Leduc Community Hospital. The incumbent participates in the delivery of quality patient care by performing services necessary for the physical, emotional well-being and comfort of the patient. The Health Care Aide will be able to work up to their full scope of practice. Duties include but are not limited to assisting patients with activities of daily living, personal care, heavy lifting and transferring and assisting with health care tasks/procedures as necessary.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Must be able to read and write fluently in the English language and have basic computer skills. Effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and teamwork. Must be able to meet the physical and emotional demands of the job as some of the duties include long periods of physical activity such as standing, bending, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Portering duties also required. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience caring for patients with Dementia is an asset. Rehabilitation of post-operative and medical patients in the Subacute setting and experience with acute care patients is preferred. Experience with CoAct and Connect Care is beneficial.
