Your Opportunity:
The Elk Point Healthcare Centre has an opportunity for a passionate Health Care Aide (HCA) dedicated to patient- and family-centered care. This position is a key part of the multidisciplinary team within our Home Care department, supporting clients of all ages in the community, including lodge residents and clients served by other departments in our facility. You will deliver direct client care in the home setting under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional, assisting with activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, in alignment with care plans and facility policies. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will work closely with clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships while showing empathy and respect, as you observe and report on clients' health status. You must be willing to travel to clients' residences, in all seasons and at various times of the day. This role involves physical demands, including bending, lifting, twisting, walking, climbing stairs, and carrying items which may occasionally be heavy. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in the health care field and work with older or chronically ill individuals. As you will be driving a Class 5 driver's license is required and in case a fleet vehicle is not available, you will need access to a reliable vehicle. Must attach a copy of your Alberta HCA Directory certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Medication Assistance Program (MAP).
