As a successful HCA, you will work as a team as well as working individually in a self-motivated environment that is always changing. Adhering to the provided care plan that has been established in collaboration with the client, family and members of the interdisciplinary team will support you in your every changing environment. Expanding your knowledge as a HCA is important, which means participating in education and local site initiatives. You will frequently communicate with regulated health professional on client status, care delivery, observations and feedback as well as documenting pertinent information and care provided. You have an opportunity to contribute as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team; demonstrating excellent creativity and resourcefulness with the ability to think on your feet with little direction. Being able to provide friendly and sincere emotional support by being a good listener and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner is critical to ensuring patient centered care as a HCA. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E. S course. Palliative Care course/experience. NVCI course. It\'s Your Move course. Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Foot care course/experience. Vital Signs. Any other educational courses and seminars that benefit excellent seniors care is always an asset. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with related legislation. Have great time management and organization abilities in order to balance different priorites at once. Availability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends is a requirement for this position. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications:

Computer proficiency, with Connect Care, Rai-HC and Microsoft programs. Minimum 1 year of Health Care Aide experience in Seniors Health over the past 3 years is preferred.
