The Health Care Aide in the Stollery Float Pool reports to the Manager, Capacity Planning and will work to the scope of the Health Care Aide as delegated by the Unit Nursing team. Duties include (but not limited to) direct patient care for grooming, hygiene, feeding, portering, monitoring patients for safety reasons, delivering specimens to labs, ordering supplies, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, tidying unit environment. The Health Care Aide may be asked to assist with patient transfers. Physical requirements include long periods of standing and walking, the ability to reach over the shoulder and lifting. The successful candidate is part of the multidisciplinary team caring for the pediatric population and their family within a Family Centered Care philosophy. They must be able to apply this philosophy in practice. The successful candidate will be orientated and expected to work on all Stollery inpatient units. this position is ALL days. The candidate must be reliable and accountable for all actions. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.
