Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to join our team in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home health environments. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, monitoring patient health, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities and memory care requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Observe and report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff. Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medical documentation. Provide personal care including catheter care and assistance with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Conduct vital sign checks and assist with hospice care when necessary. Ensure cleanliness of the living environment through tasks such as cleaning and laundry. Support patients with dementia or Alzheimer's care by engaging them in meaningful activities. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling medical records and documentation. Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

Previous experience in caregiving or health care aide roles is preferred, particularly in senior care or long-term care settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation is advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology and CPR certification is required. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or require memory care is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work compassionately with patients from diverse backgrounds. Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with patient care, including lifting and transferring patients safely.
