Your Opportunity:
The Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton is a comprehensive quaternary care facility specializing in medical care for infants, children, and youth. It ranks among Canada's busiest children's hospitals for inpatient and ambulatory services. The Health Care Aide (HCA) assigned to the 2E Pediatric Ambulatory Clinic works under the supervision of a clinic manager to support outpatient pediatric care for patients from birth to 18 years of age. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the HCA helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment for patients, families, and staff across a wide range of pediatric specialties. The HCA serves as a key frontline presence, often being the first point of contact for patients and families, offering empathy, comfort, and support throughout their visit. This role requires strong observational skills to identify early signs of decompensation in pediatric patients or caregivers. Core responsibilities include assisting with patient transfers and mobility, accurately measuring and recording vital signs, height, and weight, delivering specimens to clinical testing departments, maintaining room and equipment cleanliness, managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring availability of essential items. Additional duties include portering patients between departments and multiskilling across other Stollery areas as needed. The HCA plays a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality patient- and family-centered care, reflecting the mission, vision, and values of AHS, and adhering to Stollery's policies and procedures. Stollery embraces the concept of "Safest Together," where all staff contribute to safe environments for patients, visitors, and care partners throughout the patient journey.
