Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the Health Care Attendant is responsible for the provision of safe, quality patient care within 4A5/6 at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. Primary duties include patient portering, assisting with patient's ADL's and safety, performing patient transfers and lifts, answering call bells, supply maintenance and maintaining patient environments. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Charge Nurse.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications: Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications: Current Annual BLS and It's Your Move training and yearly ACE modules for HCA.N95 fit certificate. Must have 1 year acute care experience and be able to lift, push pull at least 50lbs. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively & respectfully with colleagues, be self-directed and work efficiently with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates that have a minimum of 6 months continuous/recent work experience on 4A6. Experienced with Connect Care documentation is an asset.
