The Drumheller Health Centre provides services to the residents of the town of Drumheller and surrounding communities. It offers the opportunity to care for a variety of clients within the unit, throughout the continuum of health care including medical, surgical, obstetrical, palliative, emergency, restorative, and long term care patients. As a Health Care Aide (HCA) and member of our Coalbanks nursing care team, you provide direct patient and family centered care to a unit of 8 SL4 beds, and 4 Restorative Care beds. You will be responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the client\'s authorized plan of care. Clients and their families are assisted to maximize their optimum level of independence. You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, being friendly and sincere, and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner. You will provide care not limited to companionship, recreational activities, and supervision. You will perform health care duties as authorized on the client\'s plan of care including simple dressings, medication assistance, catheter care, ostomy care, and exercises for range of movement and strengthening. This position is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer disease or other dementias. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8,029 and is located in the valley of the Alberta Badlands. Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources.

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
