Drayton Valley has an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Aide to join their Acute Care nursing team! As a Health Care Aide, you will be an important member of a multidisciplinary health care team, demonstrating genuine interest and respect for the clients. To be successful in this position you will demonstrate excellent communication and observational skills, report changes in client care needs and condition to the LPN or RN. As an HCA and member of our nursing care team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing. Working under a regulated health professional you will be assisting in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and maintaining effective communication with patients and health professionals.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications: Ability to meet the physical demands of the job that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg. Preferred Qualifications: Recent Acute Care experience (within the last three years). Ability to communicate effectively with a geriatric population.
