Health Care Aide (Contract) - $20/hour



Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and reliable

Health Care Aide

to support an Indigenous client in their home. The ideal candidate will be respectful, culturally sensitive, and committed to providing high-quality, person-centered care. This role includes

1 hour of morning care

,

1 hour of evening care

, and

an additional 30 minutes on designated shower days

.

As part of our dedicated care team, you will play a key role in supporting daily living activities, monitoring health changes, and promoting comfort, dignity, and independence. Your professionalism and proactive approach will contribute significantly to the client's overall well-being.

Duties



Provide 1 hour of AM care and 1 hour of PM care; perform an additional 30 minutes of support on shower days. Observe and monitor the client's condition, documenting and reporting changes using EMR/EHR systems. Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and safe use of assistive equipment such as Hoyer lifts. Support specialized care needs such as dementia/Alzheimer's care, catheter care, wound-care assistance, memory support strategies, and care for individuals with developmental or physical disabilities. Assist with vital signs measurement, medication administration (if applicable to your certification), and medical documentation in accordance with healthcare protocols. Provide light meal support and maintain a clean, safe living environment through light housekeeping tasks. Offer emotional support, companionship, and reassurance to promote mental and emotional well-being. Collaborate with nurses, physicians, family members, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care. Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Support transitions between home and community settings where applicable.

Qualifications



Previous experience as a Health Care Aide or similar role in home care, assisted living, long-term care, or community health settings. Strong understanding of ADLs, hospice support, and care for individuals with disabilities. Comfort and respect working with Indigenous clients, with cultural sensitivity and professionalism. Proficiency with EMR/EHR documentation and familiarity with medical terminology. CPR certification required; additional certifications such as medication administration or catheter care are considered assets. Experience using mobility and assistive devices, including Hoyer lifts. Ability to take accurate vital signs and recognize changes in health status. Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to adjust to changing care needs and schedules. Knowledge of safety, privacy, and confidentiality standards including HIPAA.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
