HCA POSITION- AWAKE Overnight Thur/Fri/Sat/Sundays 10pm-6am

This is a permanent Part-time position within a numbered business not cash

*This position requires physical work and you must be able to lift and hold 50lbs. You will be on your feet most of the night.

Mandatory Qualifications

Fluent in English, professional level of verbal and written English!

HCA or LPN certification is mandatory (or similar certification)

Able to work in Canada.

Physically able to stand on feet for 8 hours and lift and hold 50lbs

Min 1 year of experience

CPR up to date

Police check with vulnerable sector within the last year

Medical terminology & able to identify different medical supplies for inventory purposes.

Physically and emotionally able to work in a fast paced environment

Honesty and Reliability are a MUST!!

Looking for a skilled HCA or LPN to join our team taking care of our 19 year old daughter with Transverse Myelitis in the HCA role.

Our daughter is paralyzed from the neck down and is on a Ventilator. She is cognitively healthy and is able to talk, eat, and knows how she like her care. She is very specific with how she likes her care done.

We are looking for someone who is

fluent in English and speaks clearly.

Someone with excellent verbal and nonverbal communication who is professional, caring, and committed long term.

We need an HCA or an LPN that is quick on their feet and who can take direction well. Someone who can handle crisis situations and emergency care. Someone with an understanding of trauma responses and has a large aptitude for empathy. Our daughter is extremely medically complex and her care can take up the entire day so also someone who has good time management skills and who knows how to cluster care and use their time wisely.

*This Job requires someone who can handle the mental and physical strain of working with a Spinal Cord Injury patient.

Jobs would include (but not limited to);

Feeding orally Transfers with lift and repositioning Performing Range of Motion Peri Care and full body care. Supporting family members with heavy items. Emptying urinal logging intake and output. Ostomy bag changes Suprapubic catheter changes Communicating within a team and problem solving Laundry Dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting house. Light Cooking Charting Basic Tracheostomy and Ventilator care including suctioning. G-tube care and feeding. Showering with Commode. The ability to show up for work on time and give adequate notice of holidays and sick days. We are looking for someone who is confident in their skills, who can learn quickly and who is honest and hard working. The ideal candidate is focused on client care, makes eye contact and creates a relationship with our daughter. Someone who wants steady employment and can maintain such employment for long term.
You will work with an LPN and family as part of a homecare team we have a wonderful caring team who are kind and courteous with each other, we employ 12-15 individuals at a time.

In this position you will always have support from our LPNs and Parents and will be expected to work professionally with other caregivers in a team environment.

We have been granted a very competitive wage of $24/hour

+4% vacation paid on every cheque.

Our home is in NW Calgary. We have three lovely dogs from Large to extra small.

Our daughter is a quadriplegic with small hand movements.

It can be an intimate job and having empathy and patience is critical.
