Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity to join our Intensive Care team, housed in the brand-new, state-of-the-art South Health Campus. Under supervision and direction of an RN, or other licensed health care professional, the Nursing Attendant provides direct patient care to assist in the activities of daily living, comfort and safety of the ICU patient and family, and provides indirect services to support the overall provision of care in the ICU. The Nursing Attendant is also a valued member of the code blue team both in and outside of the ICU. Key Responsibilities: Participating in meeting patient and family care needs. Assists in work area support with regards to stocking of supplies and cleaning of equipment.Description:As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of Nursing Attendant program or equivalent. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada BCLS required. Must be able to communicate in verbal and written English. Experience in Critical Care or Acute Care preferred Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting of patients and equipment. Ability to work as a team player and to request and accept direction as required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent time management skills.
