Make a difference in the lives of Albertans by joining the team at Peter Lougheed Centre Unit 32 - General Medicine. Unit 32 - General Medicine is a temporary inpatient medical unit sharing space with Unit 32 post-partum. There are 12 beds dedicated to general medicine, and you will be responsible for caring for medical inpatients and providing excellent patient and family-centred care supporting the acute care needs of our patients. Health Care Aide will be working very closely in Unit 32/Unit 38 Internal medicine units and will help support these units when needed. The Health Care Aide will work as a member of a healthcare team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients/clients. The Health Care Aide participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. The successful candidate should be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience in acute care medicine/surgical inpatient units in the past year. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred Qualifications:

1-year Health Care Aide experience within the last 3 years in an acute care (medical/surgical) unit. Completion of Annual Compulsory Education. Experience with Connect Care acute adult inpatients. It's Your Move certification. N95 Fit tested.
