As a Health Care Aide (HCA) - Nursing Attendant (NA), you will be an active team member providing direct care to children and families within the Rotary Flames House. You will be providing pediatric palliative care to children and their families. Pediatric palliative care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements. Pediatric palliative care focuses on the enhancement of the quality of life for the child and support for the family. Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or regulated healthcare professional in accordance with their designated colleges\' supervision guidelines, the HCA provides direct patient care to assist in the activities of daily living, comfort and safety of the child/youth and their family while they are guests of the House. The NA provides indirect services to support the overall provision of care within Rotary Flames House. The type of supervision (direct or indirect) will depend on the complexity of the task or procedure being assigned, the stability of the patient/client/resident and the skill level of the nursing assistant performing it. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
