Your Opportunity:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will be an active team member providing direct care to children and families as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the Rotary Flames House. You will be providing pediatric palliative care to children and their families. Pediatric palliative care is an active and total approach to care, embracing physical, emotional, social and spiritual elements. Pediatric palliative care focuses on the enhancement of the quality of life for the child and support for the family. The Health Care Aide - Rotary Flames House will demonstrate the following key competencies for this role: Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required; Effective interpersonal and communication skills with children, families, visitors and other team members; A compassionate and caring attitude that conveys respect and dignity for all persons; Demonstrated initiative, accountability, time management skills, and problem solving ability; Exceptional organizational skills.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
