Your Opportunity:

The Nursing Support Team (NST) is a team of RNs, and LPNs that support patients from birth to 18 years of age. In response to the needs of the patient population served, we have identified a need for Health Care Aids (HCAs) to join our team. HCAs in the NST will work on Unit 2, Unit 3, Unit 4, Surgical Short Stay and the Rotary Flames House. Patient populations include general pediatric medicine, general surgery, trauma, orthopedics, plastic surgery, endocrinology, neurology, nephrology, urology, metabolic, eating disorder, mental health, cardiology, respiratory, and palliative. As an NST HCA, and under the supervision of an approved Health Care Provider, you will provide ongoing supervision and care for the physical, psychological, and emotional/ social needs of children, youth and families admitted to the areas that NST supports within a framework of Family Centered Care. Develop your pediatric skills while working in a supportive learning environment. The NST provides a variety of opportunities for growth and learning in an engaging pediatric care environment. The incumbent may be required to work in other care areas of the hospital as needed. As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an approved Health Care Aide program (proof of certification required). Current CPR-BCLS Ability to communicate fluently both verbal and written in English. Current N95 fit testing. Experience and proficiency with Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM). Experience working within an interdisciplinary team. One year's experience within the last five working in some capacity with children. Computer skills (Microsoft Office, email). Previous experience in a health care environment. Ability to work under time constraints, within fast paced changing environments. Must convey and demonstrate AHS' core values. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction as required. Preferred Qualifications:

Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication styles to meet the varied needs of children, families and colleagues. A compassionate and caring attitude that conveys respect and dignity for all persons. Demonstrated initiative, accountability, time management skills, and problem solving ability within the scope of the role. Exceptional organizational skills.
