Penticton and District Society for Community Living (PDSCL) is seeking a flexible and dedicated
FLOAT staff member
to join our Assisted Living team at Chestnut Place. This unique position is ideal for a dynamic individual who is open to working across multiple roles -- Health Care Aide, Activity Worker, and Administrative Assistant -- depending on daily staffing needs.
Reporting to the Assisted Living Coordinator, this position provides coverage for staff absences such as vacations, sick leave, and other staffing needs. You must be adaptable, comfortable with varying responsibilities, and available for shifts throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Health Care Aide:
Assist residents with personal care, daily living activities, and medication administration.
Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive living environment for residents.
Provide compassionate caregiving to residents in assisted living and nursing home settings.
Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication administration, and personal hygiene.
Support individuals with disabilities and those experiencing dementia by offering tailored care.
Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
Respond promptly to emergencies, utilizing CPR and First Aid certifications as needed.
As an Activity Worker:
Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and social programs.
Encourage resident engagement and integration into community activities.
As an Administrative Assistant:
Provide clerical support including document preparation, record-keeping, and scheduling.
Maintain financial and administrative records under the direction of the Coordinator.
Required Qualifications:
Certificate in a human/social service-related field.
Registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
At least 1 year of recent, related experience (or a combination of education and experience).
Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.
Valid Food Safe Certificate.
Valid Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License.
Satisfactory criminal record check (working with vulnerable adults).
Medical clearance for fitness to work and TB Skin Test.
