Betel Home Foundation operates an 80 bed personal care home in Gimli, Manitoba. We are currently recruiting for a part-time Health Care Aide a permanent day / evening position . Position Summary: Assumes responsibility to assist nurses in providing resident care. Utilizes a team approach to ensure resident focused care in a safe environment. Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 Minimum Grade 10 education and approved Health Care Aide Course is an asset, uncertified Health Care Aide will be considered. \xc2\xb7 Combination of medical training and experience will also be considered. \xc2\xb7 Previous experience in a related field would be of benefit. \xc2\xb7 Desire to participate in learning opportunities to develop self. \xc2\xb7 Ability to foster good relationships with staff, residents and public, thereby promoting resident-focused care and services. \xc2\xb7 Due to the high physical demands of the position, the incumbent must be physically and mentally capable to meet these demands. FUNCTIONS: \xc2\xb7 Providing care to residents under the direction of the R.N., R.P.N. or L.P.N. . Assist residents with activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, toileting, escorting etc. \xc2\xb7 Participates in in-service education and staff development programs, team conferences, resident care conferences, and staff meetings. \xc2\xb7 Participates in the rehabilitation programs. \xc2\xb7 Reports accurately any unusual incidents and all observations made of resident\xe2\x80\x99s condition. \xc2\xb7 Participates in the formulation of new policies and procedures. \xc2\xb7 Maintains equipment and supplies hygienically and ready for use at all times. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates good body mechanics in all aspects of moving, lifting and transferring. \xc2\xb7 Lifts and transfers residents according to Betel policy and procedures. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates use of all equipment in a safe manner. \xc2\xb7 Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities. \xc2\xb7 Supports an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may results in adverse outcomes in the delivery of health care services. \xc2\xb7 Provides a safe environment by ensuring the adherence to Workplace Safety and Health regulations and policies and Infection Control guidelines. \xc2\xb7 Obeys all safety and health rules and follows recommended Safe Work Procedures. \xc2\xb7 Informs supervisor of any unsafe acts, work condition, occurrences, near misses, injuries or illnesses immediately. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates a working knowledge of Workplace Hazard Materials Information Systems (\xe2\x80\x9cWHMIS\xe2\x80\x9d) and adheres to the procedures for handling and storing controlled substances as described in the Material Safety Data Sheets (\xe2\x80\x9cMSDS\xe2\x80\x9d). \xc2\xb7 Uses personal protective equipment as required. \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates understanding of role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and health programs including the region\xe2\x80\x99s Fire, Disaster and Evacuation plan. This positions requires a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charge incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
