We're looking for qualified, regular, part-time (0.68 FTE)

Health Care Aide

to join our Nursing Care team at Kootenay Street Village in

Cranbrook, BC

The successful candidate will have related experience and a passion for providing high quality care and support for seniors.

We're looking for someone who:

Respect and promote the dignity, choices and individuality of each resident by recognizing them as a whole individual with unique cultural, spiritual and psychological needs; Provide personal care to residents and provide assistance as required; Perform delegated clinical procedures, record observations, report problem or condition changes to nurse supervisor and participate in team planning; Assist resident and families during admission, move-out or transfer process by orientating them to other staff and residents and providing support as required; Use medical and mobility equipment safely, reporting any malfunctions to the nursing supervisor; Assist with feeding and other meal-service related duties; Interact with residents, guests and staff in a courteous and respectful manner; Complete required documentation; Follow security and infection control policies and procedures; and, Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:

Current registration and in good standing as a Health Care Assistant with the British Columbia Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry (BCCACHWR); Certificate of completion from a recognized Care aide (RCA, HCA) program; Certificates in First Aid and Food Safe preferred; Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to work independently and as a team-player; Physically capable of lifting up to 10kgs; Proven computer experience; Ability to work day/evening/night shifts and weekends and holidays as required; Can provide a negative TB screening test A complete Immunization Record as outlined in the BC Centre for Disease Control for Health Care workers Successful clearance of a vulnerable sector-criminal record check

What we offer you

Compensation: $29.83 per hour; this position currently falls under provincial wage-levelling.
